Recycling At The Township Safety Center
In order to help and encourage residents in their recycling efforts, the household materials listed below can be dropped off at our recycling center located next to the Township Safety Center on Valley View Road.
Newspapers can be placed in the trailer provided by the Slesnick Co.
A container for steel cans, glass and plastic is also located at the center.

The center is open every day from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM.
The containers are usually emptied on Monday, Wednesday
and Friday, but schedule is subject to change.

Please do not drop off any household hazardous waste materials
at the township recycling center. Since we are not able to dispose
of them, individuals caught on
our electronic surveillance
equipment will be subject to fines
.

Weekly Trash Collection Information

The Township has a contract with Republic Waste Service for trash collection.

PLEASE CALL REPUBLIC WASTE SERVICES AT 216-741-8113 TO
ARRANGE FOR SERVICE, TO DISCONTINUE SERVICE OR FOR
CUSTOMER SERVICE CONCERNS.

The following rate schedule is currently in effect:

• Curbside: $37.38 per quarter ($12.46 per month)
• Senior Curbside: $34.35 per quarter* ($11.45 per month)
• Backyard: $73.05 per quarter ($24.35 per month)
• Handicapped Senior Citizen (Backyard): $67.08 per quarter ($22.36 per month)
*Senior rate applicable if resident is 60 years of age or older or handicapped.

Pick Up Schedule According To Street Name

• Trash will be collected Thursday and Friday.
Please click the Street Name Listing above to see what day your trash is collected. Note: The streets listed below are now on Friday pick up.
• Please have all trash out by 7:00AM.
• Do not place trash out before 7:00PM the night before your trash pick up
day.
• All refuse must be contained, tied and enclosed to prevent leaking, spilling
or blowing.
• Wood, tree trimmings, carpet, brush, etc., must be tied in 18" bundles no
longer than 4 feet in length.

Trash Pick Up Changes On Some Streets In January 2011
In an effort to better service their customers, Republic Services has changed the service day for some streets in the Township. This change will not affect your billing.
Effective beginning the week of January 2nd, the new trash pick up day will be Friday for the following streets:

Holiday Trash Schedule Revised July 2010
Trash pickup is delayed one day (Thursday to Friday, Friday to Saturday) during the week when one of the holidays listed below falls on a weekday or Sunday:
New Year's Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day Winter Holiday (December 25)
Please Note Weekend Exception:
If the actual holiday falls on a Saturday, trash pickup is normal. If one of the six major holidays falls on a Sunday, trash pickup will be delayed one day.

Shredding Days 2011
Save Money By Shredding & Recycling
Your Old Documents for FREE!
The Summit/Akron Solid Waste Management Authority (SASWMA) and Summit County Communities are partnering to offer FREE confidential paper shredding events for personal and business documents.
Last year, over 1,400 people participated, and the shredded documents resulted in recycling over 60 tons of paper last year.
All shredding day events are on Saturdays from 9:00AM to Noon, rain or shine.

Our 1st Shredding Day October 2007
The Township's first Shredding Day event took place on Saturday,
October 13 - a cold, windy day at Sagamore Hills Park. Residents were encouraged to bring sensitive documents for shredding.
 

Here are the results:

• 62 people participated in the event.
• 2,380 lbs. of paper shredded and recycled.

As a result of this effort:
20.23 trees were saved.
8,330 gallons of water was conserved.
4,998 kwh of electricity was conserved.
3.6 cubic yards of landfill space was saved
